INTRODUCING OUR
NEW AND STREAMLINED
CPSR PROCESS

Our Cosmetic Product Safety Reports (CPSRs) have been created specifically for small-scale producers, to enable them to produce and sell their products to the public, at an affordable cost.

This Assessment allows you to produce one single base product with up to 8 different variations (i.e. different flavours / colours). (We also sell a 5 Variant Assessment here).

These assessments are for both UK residents and European customers to sell in both the UK and Europe.

These assessments are written by a qualified biochemist with experience in analytical and environmental toxicology, microbiology and is an experienced research scientist.

His qualifications include BSc Biochemistry, MRes Biochemistry and AMRSB (Associate Member of the Royal Society of Biology).

PLEASE NOTE: Our reports now come complete with all the allergen info needed for your labelling, and full EU Toxicology, required for selling throughout Europe.
Product Information

This assessment will certify one product type, written to your own recipe, including:

Soaps (M&P or CP/HP)

Bath Bombs

Bath Melts, Truffles etc

Bath & Body Oils

Body Lotions

Body Butters

Hair Products

Face Oils / Creams / Balms

Lip Balms

Beard Balms / Oils

Face & Body Scrubs

Face Masks

...and much more!

Furthermore, you are allowed up to 8 variations on your recipe (i.e. different flavours / colours). The base recipe has to stay the same, but you can add different flavours & colours to your different variants. The base recipe needs to form the main part of your product.

Your base recipe
can contain up to 10 ingredients - and you can have up to 5 variations of your base recipe (different flavours/colours etc.), which can include up to 5 extra ingredients each.

If you wish to make more than one type of product, you will need to purchase more than one assessment. However, we sell single product assessments from just £75 + VAT.

Possible Additional Fees

The fee for this package is £150 (ex. VAT). However, this is subject to your recipes being approved by our safety assessor. In some cases, there may be an admin fee charged, if your recipes are complicated, there are additional exposure areas* etc. Additionally, in a few cases, the assessor may be require you to carry out further tests, i.e. TVC testing or Challenge Testing, but we will advise you of this asap and you have the right to cancel thereafter. For more information, please see our T&C (below).

*This report covers you for one exposure area (one body area). If you wanted to use the same base recipe but for a different use, i.e a lip balm that's also a body balm, then additional admin fees will apply (usually £30 + VAT per exposure area).

If you like, we can review your recipes first, before you buy this package, so you know exactly what you'll be paying. In this case, just email your CPSR Forms to assessments@naturallybalmy.co.uk for a quote.
What's Required From You

First of all, we don't need to physically see your product to produce your safety assessment.
You will need to download our submission form to submit your recipes to us - you can do so on our CPSR Forms page here. Just choose the 8 Variant option for this assessment. Please send this form to assessments@naturallybalmy.co.uk - quoting your order number.

Additionally, we need you to send the following documents -
  • The Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for each of your ingredients – most suppliers will provide these when you buy your ingredients. If you do not already have one, you will have to request one from the supplier.

  • An Allergen Declaration for any essential oils / fragrance oils in your composition. This is provided by the manufacturer/supplier of the oil and will enable us to determine you are using essential oils in safe quantities.

  • An IFRA statement for any other fragrance or flavour oils (not essential oils) – this statement will enable us to assess whether the (often, very complex) fragrance and flavour oils used are safe for your product.

  • Colours – we will need the CI numbers for your colours and glitters. There will often be several CI numbers in each colour, mica or glitter so be sure to provide all of them.

Where to Buy Ingredients From?

Although you are allowed to buy the supplies from most reputable suppliers, in order to minimize the time taken to prepare and write your CPSR, it is advisable to buy all the ingredients from us. That way, we will send all the documents to the assessor on your behalf, so you don't have to!

SPECIAL OFFER
In addition, when you spend at least £100+VAT on assessments, we will send you a 10% off Voucher to use when purchasing our supplies - you just need to spend a minimum of £100+VAT on supplies to get the discount.

To claim this offer, simply email sales@naturallybalmy.co.uk with your name and assessments order number. We will then generate for you a one-off discount code to use on your next purchase of £100 or more from our website. The code is valid for one year, and can be applied to purchases of our ingredients, wholesale unscented bases and packaging products.

Recipe Submissions

This package entitles you to 8 different variations on your base recipe.

If you would like to purchase additional variants with this package, each variant will be £20+VAT. (You must submit these at the same time as your other variants).

If you purchase this package, but do not submit all your 8 variants at once, you can still buy the package, then for a small admin fee (£30 + VAT), this allows you to add all of your extra variations (at once) at a later date (within 6 months). Adding them separately will incur multiple admin fees. After 6 months, extra variants will be £30 + VAT each, in addition to an admin fee.

Extra Variants

You have the option of adding 1-2 additional variants (i.e. another scent/colour) to this package for £20 (ex. VAT) per extra variant. It just needs to share the same original base, and be submitted to us along with your other recipes.
Terms & Conditions

IMPORTANT: Please read our specially crafted Terms & Conditions for safety assessment purchases (don’t worry it’s not too long!) But should help customers understand the process a bit better, and what your rights are with regard to refunds, recipe advice and after care. By making an assessment purchase you agree with these terms & conditions.
How Long it Takes

After you have purchased the assessment, we aim to complete your assessment within 8 weeks from your recipes being finalised. Meaning, once we have all the correct documents from you and the assessor has looked at your recipes, once you have tweaked them appropriately (if necessary) and the safety assessor has deemed them safe to sell, it then takes 8 weeks to write them up.
OR in some cases where we review your recipes and they are finalised first, and payment comes second, then it's 8 weeks from when payment is received, rather than when your recipes are finalised, because we don't begin writing them until full payment is received.
