What is Preservative Eco?

It is a broad-spectrum, non-paraben, non-formaldehyde and non-isothiazolone preservation system that can be included in natural and organic skin and hair care products and is COSMOS approved.

Its four components, Benzyl Alcohol, Salicylic Acid, Glycerine and Sorbic Acid, are all well accepted in a wide range of personal care products. This novel composition of this antimicrobial blend offers broad spectrum protection in a diverse range of products, against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, yeast and moulds. It is clear liquid with a mild smell.

What are the benefits of using Preservative Eco on your skin?

Ideal for us in base lotions and creams, body butters, lipsticks, liquid and cream makeups and sun care products, it is suitable for use in oil-in-water, water-in-oil and anhydrous (non-water containing) formulas, so it’s compatible with a wide range of skincare and sun care formulations.

What does Preservative Eco smell like?

A faint, characteristic odour which becomes significantly stronger when the preservative is added as the final ingredient in a product.

Does the job effectively

I have been formulating for over a year now and completed a diploma in organic skincare formulation. I have been using preservative eco in almost all my emulsions and found it extremely effective if used in the right quantity and within the correct Ph limits. My products have kept very well when stored correctly, without spoiling. However, I also pay attention to sterilizing my workspace, equipment and wear a protective apron and gloves to limit the risks of contamination. All of which are important as-well as the choice of preservative.
