What is Cocoa Butter?

Cocoa Butter is packed with vitamin E and fatty acids such as Oleic, Palmitic and Stearic acids. It can be used as an emollient, skin softener and a protectant. The deodorised grade is refined to remove much of its odour, which can be overbearing in some recipes.

Easily absorbed into the skin, Cocoa Butter is often used to assist with hydration and moisturising due to its high fatty acid content, it is also a popular ingredient for use on lips to create a protective barrier. How to use Cocoa Butter

Cocoa Butter is one of the most stable butters available and is ideal for up to 100% use in hair, skin, face and body soaps, lip balms and body butters as well as creams and lotions. It can be melted at 34-39c and used in body creams to thicken them and to help combat dryness and improve skin flexibility and has good heat stability.

History and origins of Cocoa Butter

Sourced and produced throughout the humid tropic regions of Africa, South America and Asia, Cocoa Butter is obtained from the roasted seed of the Cocoa bean.

How is Cocoa Butter made?

It has been cold-pressed using the whole bean thus retaining vital antioxidants. This process uses only the heat from the friction caused when pressing the bean, unlike the excessive heat in traditional cocoa butter, which does not protect the antioxidants. Deodorised Cocoa Butter is further refined and supplied specifically for the cosmetics trade.
